America Continues to Take International Humiliation from Iran–While Financing Their Terrorism
Good Morning America reported yesterday that the Obama administration policy of bending over for public flogging by Iran, the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism (who continue to call America the Great Satan and shamelessly defy the provisions of Obama’s ill-advised “nuclear deal”) is alive and well.
Sustaining provocation by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, the American Navy destroyer USS Nitze was near-missed by four Iranian craft in the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday.
A Department of Defense official told GMA the Iranian speedboat maneuvers were “unsafe and unprofessional” and “came way too close for comfort.”
“Four Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGCN) vessels harassed the guided missile destroyer USS Nitze (DDG 94) by conducting a high-speed intercept and closing within a short distance of Nitze despite repeated warnings as Nitze transited international waters in the vicinity of the Strait of Hormuz Aug. 23.”
Iran vs. John Kerry the Buffoon: Update
Besides the January disgrace of ten U.S. Navy sailors who held fire when ambushed by Iran and ended up starring in terrorist propaganda (see above) on the eve of Obama’s crooked, ineffectual “Iran Deal,” Iranian prodding of a passive U.S. foreign policy continues. GMA notes:
In mid-July, Iranian craft harassed the USS New Orleans as it played host to General Joseph Votel, who, as the commander of U.S. Central Command, is the top U.S. military commander in the Middle East.
CNN had more details today (via Washington Free Beacon):
A US Navy patrol craft fired three warning shots at an Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps boat Wednesday after US officials said it had harassed that patrol craft, CNN has learned.
Another US patrol craft and a Kuwaiti Navy ship were also harassed in the incident, which took place in the northern end of the Persian Gulf.
At one point, the Iranian boat came within 200 yards of one of the US Navy boats. When it failed to leave the area after the Navy had fired flares and had a radio conversation with the Iranian crew, the US officials said, the USS Squall fired three warning shots. Following standard maritime procedures, the Navy fired the three shots into the water to ensure the Iranians understood they needed to leave the immediate area.
Meanwhile, John Kerry’s State Department continues to dance around the whole America negotiated with Iranian terrorists to pass Obama’s Iran deal storyline.
Meanwhile, John Kerry’s “not a ransom” line is wearing thin. Washington Free Beacon reported today that in addition to the first $400,000,000 drop of euros on a pallet (coinciding with the non-ransomed release of four Americans from Iranian clutches on January 16), another $1,300,000,000 America supposedly owed Iran from the Carter administration also flooded Tehran’s banks to help finance more terrorism–and the Obama administration is refusing to admit it. What $19,400,000,000,000 national debt?
While the administration has remained silent about the circumstances surrounding the payment, investigative reporter Claudia Rosett recently disclosed that the Treasury Department transferred just under $1.3 billion to the State Department in 13 “large identical sums.”
The funds, allocated for “foreign claims,” could shine a light on how the administration moved taxpayer funds into the State Department’s purview in order to provide the additional payment to Iran.
In 13 individual payments of $99,999,999.99, the Treasury Department moved a total of 1,299,999,999.87, which roughly amounts to the remaining money owed to Iran.
Conservative GOP Senators Ted Cruz (TX) and Mike Lee (UT) have led a Congressional inquiry into Obama’s blatantly illegal financing of American payoff of a State-labeled sponsor of worldwide terror:
The Departments of State, Treasury, and Justice all failed to respond to the inquiry by Monday’s deadline, according to congressional sources tracking the matter.
“The already bizarre circumstances surrounding the $1.7 billion payment to the Islamic Republic have only gotten stranger in the weeks since we learned of the $400 million in cash that was sent to the Iranian regime last January 16th,” Cruz said to the Free Beacon. “If this payment was, as the Obama administration insists, a straightforward settlement of an old debt that it would have cost America more to contest, why all the secrecy?”
